About the Storyteller

Living life for Jesus//Writer//Aspiring Author//Dog Lover//Dragon Rider

Ivie Brooks is a Jesus following, dragon riding, dog loving, sweet tea drinking writer who looks at writing like breathing. When not writing, Ivie is most likely thinking about writing. Her goal is to write raw and vulnerable books that show how tragic and how wonderful life can be and giving her characters realistic feelings is important to her. Ivie was born and raised in Texas and is a southern girl through and through.

Welcome to my blog. That official bio up there is for the back of my books and my author website. You came here to hear advice about writing and learn more about the crazy writer behind the books.

Continue at your own risk....

Just kidding! Though I am a crazy, dragon obsessed person, I don't bite. Often.

I post writing tips on Wednesdays and random topics on Saturdays. I always respond to every comment I receive and I love talking with people, so feel free to leave a nice comment. However, I won't allow swearing or rude behavior here on my blog, so if you leave any comment that's unnecessary and vulgar, I will be forced to delete it. I wouldn't want to do that, but I must. Just keep that in mind as you wander around.

You'll most likely hear about dragons, peach slushies, and southern things around here. I also say y'all a lot, not because I'm trying to look southern, but because I type how I talk. And I talk like a southern girl, so you might see that come through in how I speak around here.

Got any questions or want to fangirl about awesome books? Leave a comment. My blog is a no spoiler zone, so try not to spoil books for other people.

All that being said, God bless you.
With love,

    1. Okay, I'll do my best to start that up. My problem is I don't have a lot of books at the moment, but maybe I can spread it out. I was thinking of doing them on certain Fridays, like maybe every first Friday of a month. I'll work on getting book reviews out soon! :)
I would love for my bookcase to be full. :)

    2. Maybe there's one you've read that really stood out to you.
Yes! Then we'll all be excited about every first Friday. That'd be cool. ;)
I'll definitely read them if you review them!
I'm probably gonna be getting more....hehe. My sister's gonna kill me. Eh.

    3. Okay, cool. I'll look into what I have on my shelf and I'll review some books. I have enough to last me a little bit, so hopefully that will be good. Also, I have a special post coming out tomorrow if you'd like to check it out.
Haha, just tell her to read the book, too, lol.
      God bless you!

    4. *high fives you* I'll be reading the reviews you write. ;)
You're right. That might be one way of escaping her wrath. Lol *glances to see if she's looking*
      Bless you as well. <3

    2. Thank you! Welcome to my blog. Thank you for stopping by. I'm glad you enjoyed my Home school rant. I wanted to do that because of questions I was asked a lot.

I have a lot of ideas for the future, so stick around.
      God bless you!

    1. Yay! Actually, though, I want the years to go by slowly because time flies too fast. But when 2020 comes ... y'all better prepare. I'm very vocal about politics. (If you couldn't tell, hahaha.)

      Evil laugh. Nice touch. :)

I relate to #7 on your list but don't understand #8. I was just in the South last month for the first time and tried sweet tea. It must be an acquired taste ;)

    1. Hi and Welcome. Sweet tea is a southern thing, I guess. I love it, but it has to be really sweet. Some sweet tea is better than others, lol.

I know so many who love coffee and a few who don't when it comes to writing. I just don't like coffee.

      Thanks for stopping by. <3

  5. I don't often find new blogs to follow, but "I'm not going to be politically correct and I love healthy debate" just trapped me... ;)

    1. Thank you and welcome! I love debate as long as it's productive and I'm a free thinker. I want people to form their own opinions on a topic using their brain and research. We live in an age where the internet can help us look up anything. We just have to take the time to do it and make sure we're careful with our sources.

      God bless you! <3

    2. So, true - we have the access to knowledge - but many are too lazy to incorporate time into research. On top of that, it would seem that many would prefer to just state opinions and argue with out being based in facts. ;)

    3. Yes and they seem to reiterate exactly what the mainstream media says they should believe. I pray that as a nation, we open our eyes.

  6. Hi, Ivie. I've seen your comments around, and I thought I'd come by your blog. I'm also a Christian peach-lover, but I'm an ENFP, so our personality types are completely opposite. It should be interesting to see just how those differences register.

    1. Hi, welcome to my blog! I think I've seen you on Gray's blog before.
Peaches are awesome. I can't get enough of them.
Wow, very different personality types. I think I come off a bit more extroverted on here, though.
      Thanks for stopping by! :D

    1. Thanks! I worried people wouldn't like that about me, but I have to remain true to myself. I've had a lot of good response. Even the person who wanted to debate me wasn't ugly about it. So, all is good with that. I just get very passionate some times. (All the time.)

    2. I think blog design is ever evolving (wait, did I just use the word "evolving"?! Yikes, maybe I'm becoming a liberal!) XD

But yeah, constantly changing themes is fine, and fun!

    3. And I also think it's contagious... oh, no.

    4. Ever growing, maybe? To me, the word evolving, when not used to describe people, just means change. XD lol.

      Oh no! XD

Also, if evolution were true, wouldn't we have evolved into an even higher species already? XD

    1. Yeah, I was trying to be silly. I'm probably going to be changing this page up again soon, but I thought it was funny. I might keep that part. XD Slushies are good. Its been a while since I've had one, though. I need to make a peach slushie fund. XD Thank you, I hope to get to know you as well. :)
