Writing Wednesday #1: My Story of Becoming a Writer

Hey, y'all. Welcome to Writing Wednesday.
Today's the day where we talk about writing and the life of a writer. First off, let me start by saying I'm sure some of you found me thanks to the lovely lifesaving blog, Go Teen Writers. But for those of you who have stumbled upon my little blog by accident or for other reasons, I want to recommend goteenwriters.blogspot.com. They've been a huge aid to me in my writing and will definitely aid you in yours as well. Go Teen Writers is run by three lovely ladies who are authors themselves, sharing tips on the writing industry. The community is wonderful and I've had many great conversations on their website.
All that being said, I want to talk about writing, obviously. Writing and breathing are synonymous to me. They haven't always been, though. I used to hate writing, especially for school. I loved to read, though. So I read a lot of books. I started writing on a website for kids and teens. The story idea I had was great, but the stories I wrote were terrible. I was inconsistent and changed names accidentally because I wasn't organized.
Also, the rules of the website were you had to write your stories to be website related and their couldn't be really any romantic love. At the time, this was fine. I was just getting into writing and it was good practice. I started to enjoy it and getting that acceptance mail was awesome. (By mail, I mean the email system they had on the website.)
So, I submitted nine accepted stories for the same story line and it all went pretty well. I don't know if anyone actually read them, besides the person who accepted and rejected stories, but I know I didn't do so well in technique.
I decided to take the idea, a story about a princess who's home is threatened and she's the only one who can save the kingdom (cliche, I know, but I'm telling you my story was unique) and turn it into a real life thing.
I began writing and was set out to make it a trilogy. (I've got a thing for trilogies.)
It was going to be in the genre fantasy, though I had no idea at the time what genre really was. I knew that genre applied to music, but didn't really know that it applied to books. I knew there were mature books, juvenile books, and kiddie books. That's what I knew.
Of course, I'm working on a different story idea now. A dystopian trilogy. There's a little bit of a backstory of how I got to that point, but I'm saving that for another Wednesday.
But this is pretty much my story. It's probably a little boring. No big thing really made me write. I just started out of curiosity and here I am now. I've been working on my trilogy (book one) for almost three years this coming summer. It's crazy that I've been dedicated to it for that long.

So, what's your story? Tell me in the comments below what inspired you. What made you began your writing journey and what genre do you prefer/write at the moment? Let me know in the comments below. I'd love to hear from y'all.

God bless y'all. 😁

Quick little note: I'll be also adding another day to my posting schedule, besides random days I feel like posting. Every first Friday of a month, starting this Friday, I will be doing a book review of a book I own. It will be my own opinion that's honest. That does not mean how I feel about the book will be how you feel. So if you decide to read the book, you will probably feel different about it. So keep your eyes open for that. I like book reviews and I hope you do too! God bless y'all. 😁

Honoring Those Who Gave Their All

   Hey, y'all.
If you live in the United States like I do, then you should know today is Memorial Day. On this day, we celebrate the men and women who have fought for our freedom and didn't make it back home. They have given their all to protect and serve. And those who do make it back, barely get anything in return.
Now, let me expand on that for a second. These men and women fight hard, sometimes dying for us, but a lot of people in America don't give them the respect they deserve. These people see things we can't even begin to comprehend and we do nothing for them. They aren't really taken care of upon return.
The V.A, which stands for the Department of Veteran Affairs, doesn't take care of these poor people like they should. To make matters worse, they are changed when they come home and sometimes, families don't make it. A lot of veterans end up homeless.
With all that being said, today is Motivation Monday. I didn't want to bring anyone down with an article that was sad, but I felt the need to shed light on what is done for us. God gives us freedom and these men and women protect it. They fight for us so we can be free. A free nation under God.
Pray for peace. Pray for the veterans, that they can receive better care and that they can heal. Pray that God gives them strength to overcome their struggles.
Today's the day we honor those who fought and didn't make it back. They are loved and missed. If you are related to someone in the military, make sure you express how much they mean to you. God has great plans, but sometimes we can't always see them.
And thank you, lovely reader, for spending time with me today. Thanks to all the men and women who fight for us everyday on and off the battlefield. Let's all do our best to show more respect to the men and women in uniform.

God bless America and God bless y'all. 😀

Schedule Announcement

Hey, everyone. I've decided a posting schedule. I know I just said I didn't have one, but I've been thinking about this schedule for a while when I was planning on getting a blog. So this is my (hopeful) schedule. Please understand that any missed days are because life is crazy right now at the end of the school year.

Monday Motivation: I will share a motivating quote along with just general motivation. I might also share a Bible verse and how the verse has impacted me.

Writing Wednesdays: I will share something about my experience writing a novel. (Or should I say novels.) I might also share a YouTube channel or website that has helped me improve my writing as well as inspired me to write.

Extra days: On extra days, which won't be every week, I might share a rant that's on my heart about the world. I must warn you I can get very passionate about my ranting. Extra days will be really any day of the week. God may touch my heart so say something to y'all and I will listen to what He says.

So that's about it. Hopefully I can stick to this schedule. Sometimes life has no respect for our responsibilities. (Can I get an amen?)

God bless y'all.

First Post!

Hey, everyone. Welcome to my blog. As of now, this blog will be about many different things, such as my faith, my passion for writing, rants, and motivation. I hope you stick around to see what I have to say. I don't have a set schedule of when I will post, but I have some ideas in mind. I am new to blogging, so please be patient with me while I figure all of this out.

Thank you for stopping by and let me know in the comments below what you think. I will try to respond to everyone, but I can't make any promises. Also, no profanity or foul language will be tolerated. I will remove any comments and block any user that tries to be profane. No fighting will be tolerated, but healthy debate is okay.

Okay, I think that's it for now. Thanks again for stopping by and I hope to see you again.
   God bless y'all!
